Fort William is 2.5 hours north of Glasgow and 1.5 hours south of Inverness, along the A82. For those travelling from the east there are several routes off the A9, which can be taken, including from Perth and Aviemore.

City Link offer regular services from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness to Fort William. The bus and railway station are adjacent to each other. There is a taxi rank at both stations. Caledonian MacBrayne Ferries service 22 islands and 4 peninsulas that are situated off the West Coast of Scotland. It is possible to travel from the majority of these islands to the mainland into the ports of Mallaig or Oban, from there you can use the bus, train or road links to Fort William.
